Forgotten temple! Forbidden treasures! Puzzles! Snakes!

Explore a forgotten temple and retrieve the warping gem of the Soulbound.

This is an adventure puzzle game for the Pico-8, made by Lorraine Devaux, and based on the original Soulbound made by Benjamin Soulé for Ludum Dare 47. It takes about an hour to complete.

Controls:

• Left/Right: move around
• Z/C/(O): jump
• X/V/(X): slash / action
• Down: drop object

The game does not save, but once you know the solutions to the puzzles, it doesn't take very long to get back to where you were.

You can change the difficulty in the pause menu. After you get the scepter, you can also teleport back to your last discovered altar via the pause menu.

You can also find Soulbound Re-Cursed on the Lexaloffle BBS, or directly on Pico-8, with Splore or by using "load #soulbound_recursed".

Do you like this game? Let us know! We're trying to gauge interest for a bigger Soulbound!

Shout-out to Eris Desquilbet for patiently testing the game and pointing out the various places where one could get stuck!

Nice concept, everything is neat but the controls are kinda bad.

oh!!!

How does stabbing work when you're holding a gem? Is it just way slower? And I can't figure out how to tell where the arrow traps are. They're clear after they shoot, but if there's a way to tell before, changing their sprite after makes it annoyingly difficult to figure out. And tell me when you get saves working.

You can only stab while airborne, not while grounded. The arrow traps are brick tiles with a big circle cut out of them (when they’re loaded they also visibly have the green arrow inside them).

Délicieux!
