fun at first, but becomes very frustrating when you can't figure out what gives you what you need to continue. Also, do the farmers(?) give increased critters?
Hello, I just tried to play the game but received this error when I tried to press the fire. However there was another issue visually, I had green lines all over the screen. This happens when you click on the fire instead of holding the left mouse button
Ok, I LOVED it, but... (for this I´m gonna call the creatures "critters") First of all, in my first try I wasn´t able to keep going, then I give it a second try and a fire critter appeared this time for me to explore (a minor bug, I guess?). When I try to build something and I need two pieces of wood and I actually have 2 wood critters near, the game pick another one that it takes like 25 seconds to arrive. Also when is building time the critter with a pickaxe or... a helmet?? I don´t know about this because they sometimes come together when I´m holding, then they lose the material or the tool because of that mecanich. <- VERY ANNOYING. At some point I thought I failed the game because I was lacking of critters. I was exploring and found like 20 of them in a little spot, like they were having a rave at some 2x2 spot. I don´t know. What are farms for? Or the bushes? There´s nothing telling me what I´m getting of them, so it´s annoying loosing materials or critters for, apparently, nothing.
I´m probably being so annoying but this is just because I truly loved this. Hope you guys keep working, awesome demo, even if I wasn´t able to finish it (SAVES PLEASE).
ERR [string "code/pet.lua"]:520: attempt to perform arithmetic on field 'xb' (a nil value) I was, at the time, trying to find Helmet Sprite after finally finding where they were needed, far away; but i was just asking sprites to cut a tree or make a hut.
For future players, I would recommend going through the entire game without interruption.
I had to leave at some point and couldn't pause, so I just left the game running. When I came back, all that was left were two little fire blobs. No trees, no house, nothing else but grass, dirt and the two blobs.
if u really want to pause (as i have) you can put your mouse in the middle, and then click the windows icon(on windows) or the command icon(on mac) to exit
I love this so far. I meant to play for a bit to test it out and five hours later I was still playing. I look forward to any changes you have planned. Save points would be helpful as well as a way to pause the game. :) Excellent work!
It was tough to find the diamond. I'm still not sure where the little fellow came from. :) Seems like iron and gold are difficult to find too, but especially difficult is the flint/pick needed to mine them. Late game felt like I always had a surplus of stone since I was fishing for the pick. Couldn't finish it in the time I had, but I got a bright glowing altar, so I guess I might have been close...
Cool chill game, and kind of awesome how many little critters can be running around at once. Looking forward to a full game one day!
Also, clicking and holding can be tiring on the mouse hand... Maybe consider some other way to do click and hold as well? Or perhaps an upgrade for it after the game gets going, just to save the amount of time doing it. ;)
To mine a diamond you need the critter with a helmet, it's supposed to appear after you upgrade the fire with three iron, a flame critter, and a plain critter. Mine didn't show up the first time I made that upgrade, I had to upgrade a second fire to get it.
Very cute game :) I might have run into a bug. I collected 3 coal, but when I went to use them, only one guy ever came. And I looked around and couldn't find the other 2 anywher
I'll respond because i kept having a Missing Guys problem and figured it out: the sprites sometimes walk into your cursor as you're gathering resources, going about your business, which obviously means summoning a crowd to that exact spot. Very quickly that turns into trashing what the single sprite has. It takes only a couple seconds to trash an item, which often isn't long enough for me to notice AND save the item before it's gone.
It doesn't matter where you're clicking; as long as you're holding it, whatever is under your cursor is activating.

The Ludum Dare page has the details:
"You need houses to allow for more little guys to be there, and you need berry gatherers and farms to make little guys appear faster."
Very simple and fun game!! I played many hours.. find the gameplay on my channel
Good game, like

This happens when you click on the fire instead of holding the left mouse button
same here but without the green lines
"⚠️Hold click on the very first fire nest, or the game will crash!⚠️"
Did you ever find out how to get rid of the green lines?
so what you do is go to launcher properties and select 640x480 res

<3
Farms and bushes make the critters appear faster, it was mentioned on the Ludum Dare page but not this one. And huts increase the max population.
crashed at the very beginning as soon as i clicked the firepit
it wasn't possible to copy the text in the error message
you have to hold click on the first firepit. everything after that should function fine
hyup. Crashed at a random point:
ERR [string "code/pet.lua"]:520: attempt to perform arithmetic on field 'xb' (a nil value)

the game crashed several hours into my gameplay and i lost all my progress </3 but a really fun game! i'm looking forward to any updates in the future
Is there a name for the little dudes? They looks like soot sprites.
Very nice game, thanks for sharing it!

Because they keep following were the mouse is. So they kept running faaar away from your village :p

Hope this helped!
cool, there is Linux version!

Charming but gets tiring after a while.

Oh no, I didnt know you could trash things at all, I probably trashed 100 wood but never kept track of those. Thanks for letting me know.
of course! ☺️
Looks really cool! Hope you'll consider publishing web versions of your games
